The court fined the young man for not treating his son at the time.
A father in Al Ain has been fined 5,000 Dirhams for neglecting to treat his son who burned by hot water. Official court records show the boy, who was in his father's care, suffered severe burns after stepping on a jug of hot water. The housemaid was caring for the boy, who was staying with his father after his parents separated due to a family dispute.
The housekeeper, who was busy washing plates in the kitchen, did not notice the child playing near the hot water. The injured child was later rushed to a hospital for treatment.
The child's mother had moved out of the house following her separation from her Arab father. The children, including the victim, remained with their father as the couple waited for a court ruling on custody.
The mother took the children away after the court allowed child custody. After realizing that her son had burn marks all over his body, she complained of negligence against her ex-husband.
After investigating the case, prosecutors referred the father to court for the crime of neglecting and physically abusing a child. Al Ain's Federal First Instance Court has ruled that an Arab youth is guilty of negligence under Article 60 of the Child Rights Act (Wadima Law).
